Hi everyone!
So I realized it had been a while since I created a new post. Life has been a bit hectic. Lately, I haven’t updated this page in a time. The wife and I bought a new house last year, so we have been busy with some improvements and updates. Also, the school year has been much more active with returning from Covid restrictions after last year.
I’ve been doing a lot of writing on the Medium website. It is a perfect space for writers to talk about various topics and share their insights. This has also created an excellent opportunity to discuss one of my favorite topics…history. As a history teacher, I often wish I had time to go deeper into some of the tidbits of events in the past. So this gives me a chance to do just that.
My school’s archery season finally wrapped up last week. School archery programs are a great way to give students who are not traditional athletes a chance to participate in a sport. It is a fun and rewarding program that I helped build at our school seven years ago. But man, it is a long season! We started in October and just now finished up. At the same time, we didn’t do as well as in the past (2019 and 2020 Regional Champions!), but the team still did well. Every year I say this will be my last season, but I usually get sucked back in. We’ll see what happens.
Freelance writing has also become an excellent avenue for my writing. A few short writing pieces a month has allowed for a little extra spending money. With a planned trip to Spain in June, this is some much appreciated extra income for sure! I’ve found a great company that I do work for.
So, some of you guys may be wondering when my next book will be ready to go. My only answer for you all right now is…soon. I have a few works in progress that I am attempting to finish shortly. Summer tends to be my most productive period as I have more free time opening up. Of course, I sometimes struggle between spending my free time writing or playing the latest video game (Elden Ring is my latest obsession).
To give you an idea of what is coming down the pike…
A collection of short horror stories. They will cover a lot of interests such as vampires, cults, and some Lovecraftian style themes. I’m hoping they will be ready before Halloween. The working title is based on one of the stories, Lonely Midnight, in which a character has a chance encounter with a woman who is more than she seems.
Hanging Around. A bank robbery gone wrong puts a crime boss’s right-hand man in mortal danger. If he can’t find out who the traitor is, his life will be over. Along with everyone he cares about.
What the Dew Might Bring. When a girl is killed and found in the woods, the police must try to find her killers. What they discover is possibly the case of the wrong place at the wrong time.
A Man of Whitbreach. This is possibly going to be my most extensive book to date. In the kingdom of Ruinath, non-humans have been run out or killed a generation earlier. When a band of non-humans commits a crime, an investigation is begun. However, one of the investigators has a secret of his own.
A collection of short essays on professional wrestling. I grew up a fan and love learning all the behind-the-scenes stories of the years I enjoyed watching the programs. If nothing else, this will be just a fun project for me, but if other people find it entertaining, even better.
A few more ideas have only the germ of an idea at this point. But I hope this will at least whet your appetite for what is to come.
