Summer is coming to a close, and I am a little reflective. We’re a few weeks into the new school year where I’m at and starting year 9 of being an educator. While the year has started a little rough, and the kids aren’t perfect, they are much better than the group I had last year. Maybe a year of actual school did them some good.

I visited Spain for the second time with a group of students. It was a heck of an adventure. I got to visit some amazing cities I had never visited before. After two visits to Madrid, I still love the city, but the south of Spain is a little more my pace. A lot more history and things are much cheaper. Plus, Seville has the tomb of Columbus, which is neat depending on your opinion of the explorer. And I got to enjoy my beloved jamon iberico (the best ham in the world!)

It’s hard to beat this view of Toledo, Spain.

The trip also helped me learn a few things about leading a travel group with many kids. My wife wants to travel to some of these places, but group travel with kids is not her vacation idea. I wrote an article a few weeks back on Medium about things I learned from the experience.

The best part of travel…snacks!

Speaking of Medium, I am happy to announce that we hit my follower goal. I am now at 107 followers on the site. This means I will get paid for the articles I enjoy writing and that you enjoy reading. For those of you guys who subscribed, followed, and shared my work, thank you!

Unfortunately, the novel writing front is not going as quickly as I hoped. The summer was a bit busier with home improvement projects than I expected. But don’t worry; I am in the process of editing and finishing one work in progress, so I can have something new for you guys soon.
